about

This is the twelfth album created by recording piano improvisations, and my last for a while.

Most of my albums have been focused more inwardly, but with my growing concerns for climate change, I wanted to do something different.

Each track focuses on positive and negative aspects of the environment in relation to the impact of humanity. They all relate to articles (links below) that had circulated in recent months that seem particularly poignant at this time.

Space Race
Although not an environmental issue as such, if we don't keep on top of it, we could end up with some incredibly wasteful collisions. Also, it's just saddening to think we're making a mess out in our atmosphere.

Crystalline
Our ice regions are beautiful, diverse, and significant in balancing the climate.

Something In The Air
Wind power still has so much potential as an energy source.

Kaua'i 'Ō'ō
Losing birdsong brings more grief while we fail to comprehend the growing list of extinct animals.

Cascade
Many regions already suffer horrendous water shortages; this is increasingly a global issue.
www.unesco.org/en/articles/imminent-risk-global-water-crisis-warns-un-world-water-development-report-2023

Poison
Air pollution is one of the world's largest health and environmental problems.
ourworldindata.org/air-pollution

Emerald Seas
Communities, such as at Loch Craignish, are rising up and restoring their land so it can thrive.

Local Living
Going plastic-free and supporting local sustainability leads to healthy communities as well as supporting the environment.
plasticfree.org.uk

Forest Be Forest
Preserving grassland as a grassland habitat is important, but restoring deforested areas is vital. Afforestation is also a brilliant use of barren spaces, or for stabilising the ground.

Find The good
Wildya is great resource for learning about eco-anxiety. I have linked another one below. Don't feel alone with your fears about what is happening to our environment.

Hive
Bees can't taste pesticides. This is another reason to encourage less harmful agricultural practices. Organic practice needs to be better subsidised for farmers.

Breathing Easier
I first heard about Liquid3's 'liquid trees'. Research continues into the powerful carbon capture potential of algae.

Guardians
Indigenous communities protect the biodiversity of their lands, and it's time that we respected that - and learn from them.
