about

This album is dedicated to Rhiannon Samantha Walmsley, and Sol Ashman. Rhi was a vibrant light of positivity and style who I first met in university. Sol was a lovely soul, always a kind smile and wonderful conversation, who I met when I moved to Lunga. Both are much loved, and whose memories will be cherished.

A lot has happened in this past year. Several beautiful friends are no longer living in this world, but we carry them with us through the times we shared, the kindnesses we showed one another, and the experiences of growth together. Those deeper bonds are forever woven into the fabric of who we are, only ever becoming more complex as people, infusing more and more of these strands into ourselves.

I wanted to take a moment to explore some of the many facets that grief presents. Some we are familiar with, but others take place without us regarding them as part of a process. Grief is a change to our identity, our personal sense of self, often challenging. It doesn't have to be the loss of another person, but simply a personal loss. A loss of part of ourselves that we cannot regain in the same way. But positivity and beauty can emerge from it also, as we learn more of how it is to exist. How it is that we continue to live.
